Canada Post updates

Potential Canada Post service disruption

The existing collective agreement between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) is in effect until May 22. If a new agreement is not reached before then, there is the potential of a service disruption.

During a mail disruption, you are expected to continue paying bills on time. Be sure you don’t miss any deadlines. In the event of a Canada Post service disruption now and in the future, you can easily pay bills by visiting one of our branches or through online and mobile banking. If you receive any government cheques by mail – you can set up direct deposit for convenience and to avoid any delays.

Please be aware of the following during a Canada Post service disruption

  • Paper monthly/quarterly statements and anything sent through the mail – including debit cards and credits cards from FirstOntario – could be delayed.
  • Visa statements sent by mail could also experience delays.
  • Members who enroll in online banking can view account history and electronic statements anytime. eStatements are secure, easy to access and you don’t have to wait for mail. Register today.
  • Through online banking, you can also complete many transactions including paying bills and depositing cheques using our mobile app on your smartphone. Download the app.
