Affordable Housing
Everyone should have a safe, secure and affordable place to live and call home. Unfortunately, this is not the reality for thousands of people across the province.
FirstOntario is proud to partner with organizations like Bethlehem Housing and Support Services, Penn Terra, Hamilton East Kiwanis Non-Profit Homes Inc. and RentalRescue to tackle the challenges of affordable and sustainable housing.
Homelessness Awareness
As a credit union, we aim to raise awareness and understanding about the daily challenges faced by homeless youth and adults living in poverty. Many factors contribute to it – financial insecurity, a lack of affordable housing, mental health, and social factors such as violence, abuse and social network alienation.
United Way support
Through our participation in Sleepless for our Community, FirstOntario helps raise funds for the United Way Halton & Hamilton, which supports efforts to end homelessness in our communities. Since we became involved in 2021, FirstOntario has helped raise over $35,000 towards this important fundraiser.
Our help extends beyond this event and includes fundraisers like the Coldest Night of the Year, which raises money for local agencies that support vulnerable people who need assistance.
This wouldn’t be possible without the participation of all our employees who recognize the value of helping one another and living our mission of improving the lives of our members and our communities.
