At FirstOntario, we’re about improving the lives of our Members and the well-being of our communities.
We know that strong financial literacy is key when making confident, informed decisions about money including when you should spend it, why you should save it and how to make it grow. Here’s a few ways we can help.
EACH ONE, TEACH ONE
FirstOntario is a proud partner of the Each One, Teach One program that trains employees to deliver free, basic financial literacy workshops in comfortable community settings. We have certified Each One, Teach One coaches and trainers who can connect with you or your group through sessions that use simple language with lots of time for questions and conversation.
It’s about empowering you to make the right decisions when it comes to managing your money and achieving financial success.
What topics do the sessions cover?
Our coaches cover a wide array of topics from basic budgeting, why it makes sense to file your tax return, the advantages and disadvantages of a credit card, building your credit score and the benefits of an RRSP or TFSA, just to name a few.

M IS FOR MONEY®
FirstOntario Credit Union and partner Teresa Cascioli, Canadian entrepreneur, philanthropist and author, have teamed up to let families and young kids know that it’s never too early to learn about money.
Teresa’s nine-book financial literacy series, M is for Money, is available in our branches to any Member who opens a new account for a child up to the age of 10.
This is the first all-Canadian children’s book series that covers financial literacy as it follows the adventures of a young brother and sister, Tessa and Benji. The stories integrate important concepts like Canadian currency, budgeting and savings into everyday story lines.
Stop by your nearest branch and find out how you can collect all nine books.
