The theme for National Volunteer Week 2025 is Volunteers Make Waves, highlighting the power, impact and importance of individual and collective volunteer efforts across our communities. Follow FirstOntario on our social media channels to see what we are up to!

Every cookie makes a difference! From April 28 through May 4, these yummy cookies will be available to purchase at Tim Hortons restaurants. 100 percent of the proceeds from each cookie sold will be donated to local charities and organizations in each community. FirstOntario Blue Wave employee volunteers will be helping to put the smiles on cookies during the week.

Hamilton
Ticats BeFit Program, presented by FirstOntario Credit Union, aims to educate the youth of TigerTown and the surrounding regions on the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle and is led by Ticats players and Dance & Cheer Team members.
Each year, the Ticats host a BeFit Day held at Tim Hortons Field for elementary school students. FirstOntario Blue Wave employee volunteers are on hand to make the day successful.

Hamilton
Beautiful Alleys has partnered with CN Rail to form the Track Gang which comes together twice a year to clean up garbage along the railway lines. FirstOntario Blue Wave employee volunteers will be on hand to help with the clean up.

Gore Park, Hamilton
The Gore Park Community Outreach makes a difference in Downtown Hamilton by serving nearly 1,000 guests weekly at Gore Park. They provide food, drinks, and a sense of community to seniors, families, refugees, and those experiencing homelessness. FirstOntario's Blue Wave employee volunteers will be lending a hand.

FirstOntario Blue Wave employee volunteers are helping in the community garden in support of Burlington Food Bank to help prepare the gardens for the upcoming growing season.

Supporting food insecurity is important to FirstOntario. Food4Kids ensures children with limited or no access to food receive a package of food for the weekend. FirstOntario's Blue Wave employee volunteers are helping assemble the packages so they can be delivered on Friday.

Knox Presbyterian Church St. Catharines
The Out of the Cold Program supports the homeless and hungry of St. Catharines and provides a hot, nourishing meal and overnight shelter to the less fortunate. FirstOntario is providing the hot dinner and Blue Wave employee volunteers to help portion the meal.

CAA Niagara partnered with Heartland Forest Nature Experience and Harvey's to create a greener Niagara by planting trees and native shrubs. FirstOntario's Blue Wave employee volunteers were there to lend a hand to help restore the local ecosystem and support this incredible community resource.
Beautiful Alleys is a volunteer run and organized group that promotes safe, accessible and environmentally friendly spaces for people of all ages and abilities. FirstOntario's Blue Wave employee volunteers were on hand to help clean the surrounding neighbourhood.
The Charity of Hope has granted wishes that have given hope to thousands of children, youth and their families since 1996. FirstOntario was proud to sponsor the Charity of Hope Gala and this year's fundraiser.
