Tricia Hellingman believes that running a successful business means not only operating in a way that’s profitable and ethical, but also in giving back to the community. This philosophy of FirstOntario Credit Union is one she shares in her own life.
For nearly 30 years, Tricia has operated a successful public relations and marketing agency, serving both small businesses and large national corporations. Her work often involves bringing together various stakeholders to overcome differences and meet common goals.
In addition to a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Ryerson University, she holds a Chartered Director designation from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University and is working towards a Canadian Securities Institute designation. Tricia has also recently graduated from the Credit Union Director Achievement (CUDA) program.
She is a member of the Board of Directors of the West GTA branch of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a member of the Council of Governors of the YMCA of Hamilton-BurlingtonBrantford. Her board experience has also included being a member of the national board of the Canadian Public Relations Society, board chair of The Hamilton Club and member of the Board of Directors of CAA South Central Ontario. During her term at CAA, she contributed to the club’s goal of providing excellent services and products to its nearly 2 million members.
Tricia’s community volunteer contributions have included serving as corporate fundraising campaign chair of the Lung Association of the Hamilton District and working with a group of neighbourhood volunteers to bring nationally-renowned musicians to the “Live on Locke” concert series, in support of the charity “An Instrument for Every Child".
As a volunteer with the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, Tricia and her Scottish Terrier, Millie, make regular visits to seniors in a local nursing home.
She is happy to bring her expertise and energy to serving the members of FirstOntario.
